Choosing The Right Supplier

When choosing a supplier, good value is far more important than a good hourly rate. In "My hourly rate doesn't matter...", Made in Dayton blogger, Steve Staub provides some questions that we should all ask before embarking on a relationship that could significantly affect our bottom line.

• Does the company have a record of on-time delivery?
• How is their quality and what is their rejection rate?
• Can they track your material and offer material certification?
• Are they easy to work with?
• Will a real human being answer the phone?
• Are they conveniently located or are they in the middle of nowhere?
• Are they ISO certified and do they have a plan for Continuous Improvement?
• Are they the newest kid on the block or an established, stable company?

These questions will help ensure that you are dealing with a reliable and reputable company, like Weber Manufacturing, that will provide good value and be around for years to come.

Throughout the years, we have updated and upgraded our equipment and quality assurance procedures to meet the growing needs of our clients, some of which have been with us since the very beginning. Today, the 15,000 sq. ft. facility pictured below has 30 major production machines in addition to our finishing and inspection equipment.

Precision Machining is in Our Blood

On February of 2013, Weber Manufacturing celebrated 50 years since the Weber and Prost families opened the doors of Weber Manufacturing in Venice, Florida, but the Weber Manufacturing story begins long before that...

In the early 1900s, my grandfather, Louis Prost started a machine shop in France and when the time came for my father, Louis Eugene Prost, to move from France to the United States, it seemed only natural that he would eventually follow in his father's footsteps.
In 1958, my uncle and dad's brother-in-law, Leon Weber wanted to join my father in the pursuit of the American Dream, but he needed a sponsor and a job in the United States to make it happen so the pair came up with a plan, they raised the necessary capital, and started L.F. Weber Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In 1963, wooed by the Florida sunshine, the two families relocated to Venice where they set up shop in the 2,500 sq. ft. building that became Weber Manufacturing and Supply, Inc. This facility, which started with little more than the 5 pieces of equipment they brought down from Philadelphia, grew into a 10,000 sq. ft. facility that housed us until 1996.
